Le dernier Canadien français
As part of “Le mois de la Francophonie”, the Alliance Française d’Oxford, in partnership with the Maison Française d’Oxford and the Québec Government Office in London, invites you to a screening of the film Le Dernier Canadien français.
This documentary explores, with sensitivity and humour, the question of Francophone identity in Canada: Born in Québec but raised in Ontario, Pascal wonders: am I Québécois, Franco-Ontarian… or simply a French Canadian? This documentary road movie sets out to meet the country’s various Francophone communities and to understand their relationship with language and culture.
On this occasion, the co-creator and producer Isabelle Corriveau and the director Pascal Boyer will be in Oxford for a Q&A session after the screening.
The film has been warmly received in Québec: three nominations at the 2024 Gémeaux Awards, nearly twenty screenings with discussions
across the country, and growing international interest.
